Content block: Open response question
In the case of an open response question, it is possible to ask the solver for a free-form response of any length. The solver will be presented with a multi-line text input field (Task 1) or multiple fields (Task 2). The task creator can specify whether the solver can use rich text options (Task 1) and whether the solver can see the number of words entered in the response (Task 1). The content block is human-rated, but the task creator can set a minimum word count requirement; if this requirement is not met, the content block will not be sent for human evaluation and will receive a score of 0 from the system. The task creator can also impose a character limit on the entered text, beyond which the solver cannot input characters (Task 2). Additionally, the task creator can disable copying and pasting of the response in the answer field (Task 2).
In Task 1, clicking in the answer field opens a rich text editor, and it is possible to see the number of words entered next to the answer field. Responses can also be pasted into the answer field. In Task 2, the use of a rich text editor is not allowed by the task creator, and a maximum of 100 characters can be entered into one answer field, with the number of words entered not displayed. Additionally, copying or pasting text from or to the answer field is not allowed in Task 2.
